Summary:
|
The District has been awarded a five year DODEA STEM grant and must appoint a .5 FTE Grant Director to administer and evaluate the operations and programs included in the STEM grant. The Stem Grant would pay the cost of the Grant Director.
The District would like to also create a .5 FTE Assistant Principal position to provide additional administrative support as needed to administer and evaluate the operations and programs of the school(s); participate in staff, student and community
activities; organize, direct, supervise and evaluate assigned certificated and classified staff. The District would support the cost of this position.
The position was flown District-wide and interviews were held on Wednesday, 10/24/18. Mr. Andreo Palacol was interviewed and selected by a panel representing Administration, SVEA, and CSEA.

Estimated costs for the remainder of the 2018-2019 school year:
STEM Grant Fund: $49,287.50
General Fund: $49,287.50
This estimate includes mandatory benefits and cost of insurance.

Recommendation:

Administration recommends the Governing Board approve the job descriptions for Assistant Principal and STEM Grant Director. They also recommend the addition of these positions to the 2017-2018 Management Salary Schedule and the appointment of Mr. Andreo Palacol at Step 5, $103,623, effective November 14, 2018.
