Resolution 18-19-23 National School Nurse Day.pdf
Summary: National School Nurse Day was established to foster a better understanding of the role of school nurses in the educational setting. Since 1972, National School Nurse Day has been set aside to recognize school nurses.

This year, National School Nurse Day is May 8, 2019. National School Nurse Day is always the Wednesday within National Nurse Week, and National Nurse Week is always May 6th through May 12th.

School nurses play a vital role in improving the health and well being of our students in the public schools, including physical, social, emotional and mental well-being of our students. They help detect a wide range of health problems that, left unchecked, interfere with the learning process of our youth. Our district nurse also sits as a member of the Student Attendance Review Board to help families with medical problems which prevent students from attending classes regularly.

School nurses who are employed in public schools promote programs aimed at awareness, detection, and prevention of health problems. One date a year has been set aside to recognize these individuals and to express our appreciation for the dedicated services they perform on behalf of students.
